US citizens, baby born in Canada.?

Our family or 4 has been living in BC Canada for 2.5 years under a work visa with full provincial health coverage (MSP). Our visas expire in July, as well as the MSP coverage (health) that is attached. We are expecting a baby in August and have decided to have the baby here since I have developed a report with an OB GYN here. We will pay cash for the birth at the Vancouver hospital ($7000). My questions are: do I have to reregister as a Canadian Visitor with immigration after my work visa expires July 31? What documents will I need to secure to bring the newborn back to the USA 2 weeks after giving birth? Does he get a Canadian passport? or a US one. What is the turnaround time for a birth certificate in CAN? Thanks in advance.

If you are an American and have a baby in Canada all you need to do is contact the U.S. Embassy and get the paper work for an american born abroad. Good luck!
